Congratulations: Drs Michelle Giles & Fabien Vincent nominated to attend Young Physician Leaders program
Michelle, pictured, (Department of Infectious Diseases) and Fabien (Department of Immunology) have been nominated as two of the three Monash representatives to attend the InterAcademy Medical Panel (IAMP) Young Physician Leaders (YPL) programme and the 2013 World Health Summit in Berlin. Michelle is an infectious diseases physician, and Fabien is a PhD student researching the role of BAFF and the T-independent innate immune system in lupus pathogenesis.

Our CCS 3MT (Three Minute Thesis) contestant, Dr Kathryn Hackman, did very well in the Faculty heat, placing third. She is speaking on diabetes in lung transplant patients. Kathryn's main supervisor is Professor Leon Bach, Department of Medicine. The video of her presentation is now up, at youtube video link.

The Centre of Excellence in Traumatic Brain Injury Research (CETBIR) is a virtual research centre based at the Alfred Medical Research Precinct (AMREP) and including the National Trauma Research Institute (NTRI), Alfred Health, Monash University’s School of Public Health& Preventative Medicine and Central Clinical Schools, and the Monash Epworth Rehabilitation Centre as core partners. Participants sought: Use of glucose in IBS fructose malabsorbers to assistfructose absorption and eliminate symptoms
Participants, both healthy and with IBS, are sought to investigate whether glucose helps in fructose absorption, thereby eliminating symptoms of fructose malabsorption.
