CCS publications update: 6-12 May

Studies urge greater flu vaccine uptake

As the flu season sets in, studies by Monash University researchers have reinforced the need for at-risk groups to have influenza vaccinations.

The two studies were led by Professor Allen Cheng, (Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine), and Associate Professor Tom Kotsimbos (Department of Respiratory Medicine) in association with other researchers who are part of FluCAN (the Influenza Complications Alert Network), a sentinel surveillance program of 17 hospitals operating throughout Australia.

Photo of the week: Red Lab Coat Day

Research groups throughout Australia participated in the Red Lab Coat Day activities on 1 May. They were organized by MS Research Australia to raise the profile of  and funding for research on multiple sclerosis. See more photos of the various groups on Twitter using the hashtag . Within Central Clinical School, Dr Steven Petratos (pictured above with his research group) is investigating stem cell therapies for various brain disorders including multiple sclerosis.
