Professor T. Clark Gamblin |
Professor T. Clark Gamblin is Professor of Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin where he leads the Division of Surgical Oncology. He is an internationally known hepatobiliary surgeon (liver, gallbladder and bile duct system) and an expert in liver cancer and upper gastrointestinal cancers.
The Department of Surgery, Monash at The Alfred hospital, applied to the Fulbright Specialist Program on behalf of Professor Gamblin to have him visit.
Professor Gamblin will stay in Australia for three weeks in October and November when he will present at various events held at Monash University, The Alfred Hospital, and elsewhere, visit surgical units at The Alfred, and provide valuable insights to registrars, trainees, surgeons, clinicians and researchers based on his highly regarded research and surgical experience.
The Fulbright Specialist Program sends US academics and professionals representing a wide variety of disciplines and professions overseas to serve as expert consultants on curriculum, faculty development, institutional planning and related subjects at academic institutions for periods of two to six weeks.
The program helps develop collaborative projects focused on education and training that are important to the host institutions.
“I am deeply honoured and excited to serve as a Fulbright Specialist in order to exchange information regarding patient-centered and personalised medicine in the discipline of Surgical Oncology,” Professor Gamblin said.
“It is my goal that relationships that grow from my Fulbright visit will springboard new ideas to our group in Wisconsin and to the Australian surgical community,” he said. “The visit will nurture future collaboration focused on training, education and research.”
