Congratulations to Dr Gemma Sharp, who has won a highly competitive AMP Foundation 'Tomorrow Maker' award and grant of $42,000 for one year, for her chatbot innovation to assist people with body image and eating disorders.

An NHMRC Early Career Fellow and Clinical Psychologist at Monash Alfred Psychiatry research centre, Gemma is developing a world-first body image focused chatbot or conversational agent using artificial intelligence. The chatbot will be advertised on Instagram to Australians who are most at risk of developing body image issues. They will be linked to the chatbot, which will provide information and tips on positive ways to use social media. The chatbot can also be accessed by parents, carers and friends and is connected to the Butterfly Foundation’s National Helpline and Lifeline for further support. Gemma is using her grant to roll out and evaluate the chatbot project. AMP Foundation link
