See more about Professor Andrew Wei's research group |
It gives me great pleasure to announce that Andrew Wei has been promoted to Adjunct Professor at Monash University.
This is a much deserved recognition for his academic scholarship and clinical leadership in acute myeloid leukaemia and his mentorship of post doctoral scientists, advanced trainees in haematology and fellows. His work has delivered international recognition for Alfred Health and Monash University.
Since Andrew's appointment in 2008, he has led the AML program for both the Alfred and the ALLG, accumulating 119 publications, 10 NHMRC grants including 3 as CIA, 3 MRFF grants as lead, along with an ACRF application which helped establish on-site molecular services. With support of the haematology Clinical Research Unit, Andrew has contributed to 4 new FDA drug approvals for leukemia (midostaurin, blinatumumab, venetoclax and CC-486) based on trials published in the NEJM, including as lead author. Andrew has mentored fellows to prominent first author research publications in prestigious journals such as JCO and Blood and post-doctoral scientists to successful fellowships supported by NHMRC and the Cancer Council.
I am sure that there are more successes and accolades to follow.
Please join me in congratulating Andrew.
