Robyn O'Hehir medal for 2020's top Honours student

Rory Doolan, who undertook Honours in Nicola Harris's lab within the Department of Immunology and Pathology was recently awarded the Robyn O'Hehir Honours Dux medal for being the top Honours student in 2020 at CCS out of a cohort of 42 students. 

Rory’s thesis was ‘Investigating the response of airway epithelial cells to damage - Use of the Helminth model of Nippostrongylus brasiliensis.’  Rory was supervised by Professor Nicola Harris, Dr Tiffany Smith and Dr Gillian Coakley.


The Dux award was announced on 22 December 2020, where Prof O'Hehir said, “I am delighted to announce that Rory Doolan from the Department of Immunology and Pathology is the top-ranked Honours student in CCS for 2020. He is the winner of the Robyn O’Hehir Honours Dux Medal and a cash prize of $1000.

"The connection of your research, Rory, with Allergy and Respiratory Medicine is a pleasant coincidence for me and I wish you every success in your future research career.”

Rory will be continuing at the Department of Immunology and Pathology, beginning a PhD under the supervision of Dr Tiffany Smith.
