The cohort-based, industry-driven, cross-disciplinary training program focuses on expanding the pipeline of homegrown, job-ready graduates to unlock the immense economic opportunities offered by AI and emerging technologies.
Students in the program will be embedded in industry, working on breakthrough solutions to research problems co-designed by end-users.The Women's Mental Health Clinic (WMHC) in Central Clinical School's (CCS) Department of Psychiatry is one of the collaborating members of the successful bid for the CSIRO Next Generation Graduates Program worth in total $1,043,674 to train 17 PhD/Masters students. Dr Gemma Sharp said, "Professor Jayashri Kulkarni and I will focus on developing graduates who are skilled in both mental health and AI research, which is a strong arm of my group's research."
The application will involve collaborators from different schools and faculties across Monash and Melbourne Universities. Dr Sharp said, "Jayashri and I are proud to represent CCS and be in a position to produce quality mental health/AI graduates from the Department of Psychiatry."
