Participants sought: Do gender and hormones influence the effects of brain stimulation?

A research group at the Monash Alfred Psychiatry research centre is seeking healthy, right-handed adults aged between 18-40 years who are eligible for Medicare to help us investigate the influence of gender and hormones on the effects of brain stimulation. Participation will involve visiting our research centre in Prahran for one (for men) or two (for women) research sessions. Each session will take approximately three hours. Participants will be reimbursed $30 per session.
Together, we will complete an interview, take a recording of your brain waves and give you a short session of painless non-invasive brain stimulation. Stimulation is given while you are awake and alert, and will only activate a small area of cells on the surface of your brain. It is safe and won’t have any lasting impact on your brain activity. Following stimulation, we will perform a blood test to check your hormone levels. Participants must not be taking hormonal medications of any kind (including hormonal contraceptives) at least 3 months prior to testing.
