Congratulations to Cabrini grant winners for medical research

A/Prof David Brewster oversees a program
of partnering medical students with clinicians
for research projects.
Thirteen Monash medical students have been awarded Cabrini Senior Medical Staff Association Research Grants.

Under the grants program the students will partner specialist medical staff members at Cabrini hospital in nine research projects. They will receive $1500 each at the completion and presentation of their research.

The students are: David Cui, Ian Tan (a 2017 grant recipient), Kavitha Gnanasambantham, Caroline Xue, Emma Perkins, Yuqi Guo, Kit Foo, Justin Kwok, Dana Lee, Daniel Edelman, Charlotte Smith, Seraphina Key and Shiva Sridhar.

The successful program, overseen by the Clinical Dean at Cabrini Health and intensive care specialist Associate Professor David Brewster, has led to the publication of three papers by 2017 recipients, with others under submission.

The Cabrini supervisors are: Drs Katie Walker, Felicity Hawker AM, Despina Handolias, Joel Aizenstros, Merlina Sulistio and Robert Wojnar; Associate Professors David Brewster and Michael Rose, and Mr Gil Shardey.

The Cabrini Clinical School is part of the undergraduate medical education program coordinated by Central Clinical School, Monash University.
