Dr Piero Perucca |
Focal epilepsies are the most common forms of epilepsy. In most people with these conditions, no cause can be found for their seizures. This project will study whether these people have in fact a type of epilepsy which runs within families, and whether they carry a gene which is responsible for their seizures. Finding a genetic cause for a person’s epilepsy is important for choosing the most appropriate treatment, and can lead to discovering new personalised therapies.
