Congratulations to Smitha Georgy on her Platform Access Grant success!

Dr Smitha Georgy is in the CCS Epidermal/Development lab

Congratulations to Dr Smitha Georgy who has won Faculty Platform Access Grant (PAG) funding in 2016 for her project titled, "Identification of pathways responsible for BET inhibitor resistance in HNSCC". The funding will enable Smitha to use the platforms Micromon and Monash bioinformatics for her research on head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC).

Central Clinical School laboratory placements for medical students

Central Clinical School offers laboratory placements for undergraduate medical (MBBS) students. The placement activities are designed to give students experience with routine standard operational procedures in a laboratory. Applications open for #top5under40 — a national search for early-career researchers under the age of 40 who have a flair and passion for communicating their vital work.

UNSW and ABC RN are inviting applications from outstanding early-career researchers, who are working in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medical research, for Top 5 under 40, an exciting initiative to discover a new generation of science thinkers and give them a voice. Participants sought: Anxiety and/or Depression and the experiences of Buddhism

Michael Ellem, is conducting a research project as part of a Master of Mental Health Science Degree, 1st Semester 2016, through Monash University.

The research project will be investigating two things:

1. Meanings of Buddhist meditation, mindfulness and spiritual practices for Buddhist practitioners with either a self- diagnosis or a clinical diagnosis of Anxiety and/or Depression.

2. The influence and dynamics of Buddhist meditation, mindfulness and spiritual practices on study participants.

Participants sought: Can a seaweed supplement reduce risk of diabetes?

We are looking for people to participate in a study to find out if eating a seaweed supplement can reduce your risk of diabetes.

· Are you between the ages of 18 and 65?

· Do you have a BMI less than 30 kg/m²?

· Are you interested in finding out about how your body handles sugar?
