Dr Ben Sinclair, Department of Neuroscience

Ben’s talk is about using brain images to predict outcome in epilepsy surgery. “Epilepsy surgery is a very effective treatment in achieving freedom from seizures, but it is not guaranteed success,” says Dr Sinclair. “Using brain images and artificial intelligence, we can hunt for clues as to which patients will respond well to surgery”.

Dr Gemma Sharp, Monash Alfred Psychiatry Research Centre

Gemma's talk is about her world-first positive body image chatbot which uses artificial intelligence to teach healthy coping skills to young people while they're using social media to intervene in the development of deadly eating disorders which affect more than one in five young Australians. As Dr Sharp says, "The chatbot is improving body image and promoting more healthy selfies".
