Award for Master Surgeon Educators Jonathan Serpell and Tony Buzzard

A/Prof Anthony Buzzard
Prof Jonathan Serpell

Congratulations to Associate Professor Tony Buzzard and Professor Jonathan Serpell, who were elected into the American College of Surgeons Academy of Master Surgeon Educators.

This very prestigious Academy is limited to Surgeon Educators who have demonstrated leadership and outstanding surgical educational contributions at a local, national and international level.

Academy members are selected through a rigorous peer-review process and induction into the Academy is a very high honour. Members of the Academy will be expected to engage actively in activities to address the goals of the Academy, namely, defining megatrends in surgical education and training; steering advances in the field; fostering innovation and collaboration; supporting faculty development and recognition; and underscoring the critical importance of surgical education and training in the changing milieu of health care.

Congratulations from Heads:

"I am really proud of both Tony and Jonathan, and honoured that they are active members of our Department of Surgery at Central Clinical School and contribute so strongly to our teaching programs."
Professor Wendy Brown, Head of Department of Surgery, CCS

"Congratulations Tony and Jonathan. A wonderful recognition of your outstanding contribution to surgical education over many years."
Professor Terry O'Brien, Head of School (CCS)
