Champions of GEDI mentoring program

The CCS GEDI committee would love to hear from you, as we are seeking EOIs from potential mentors for students and EMCRs. See example above, kindly provided by Professor Robyn Slattery.

In the Central Clinical School (CCS) Gender Equity Diversity and Inclusion (GEDI) committee CCS Diverse Lived Experiences survey (see companion story), a primary outcome was that researchers reported the need for mentoring relationships, suggesting there is scope to enhance the mentoring provided at the CCS.

In consultation with the CCS Executive, the GEDI committee are encouraging all Level C - E Academic staff who would like to support students and Early and Mid Career Researchers (EMCRs within 10 years of PhD adjusted for career disruption) with their career progression, to put themselves forward as mentors as part of the CCS Champions of GEDI mentoring program. Please see the EOI form here for more information.

As outlined in the EOI form, if you are able to support this valuable initiative we are asking you to please email the following to us, at ccs.gedi@monash.edu:

1. A photo of yourself
2. 1-3 sentences about yourself. This should diverge from your professional biography (we will supply a link to your Pure site), to provide a personal angle to help EMCRs align with personalities
3. A sentence on why you would like to be a mentor, what expertise you can provide
   

The CCS GEDI committee will create posters to be circulated and advertised across the School, with your photo, short bio and contact details (please see example in the EOI). 

It will be up to EMCRs to reach out and facilitate communication and commence the mentoring relationship.
