Welcome Frank Bruscino-Raiola and Scott Ferris to CCS Department of Surgery

Please join me in congratulating Frank Bruscino-Raiola and Scott Ferris on their appointments as Adjunct Clinical Associate Professors in the Department of Surgery at Central Clinical School.

Mr Frank Bruscino-Raiola is the Director of the Plastics and Reconstructive Unit at Alfred Health.  He graduated from Monash University in 1991 and completed his fellowship in Plastics and Reconstructive surgery in 2002.

He has been a member of the Victorian Melanoma Service since 2003.Apart from his interest in melanoma, he is the head of plastic research at The Alfred and is the prime surgeon of the Osseointegration & TMR programme and is also heavily involved in the head and neck, and trauma-related reconstructive surgery. He has had 26 publications, 16 in the last 5 years and has participated in several clinical trials.  He lectures regularly both locally and internationally.

Mr Scott Ferris is the Deputy Director of the Plastics and Reconstructive Unit at Alfred Health.  His clinical work commonly involves treatment of tumours or the consequences of trauma. The microvascular aspects of plastic surgery feature heavily, including brachial plexus surgery, head and neck cancer surgery, lower limb reconstruction and breast reconstruction. Additionally he undertakes extensive and advanced skin cancer surgery and elective and traumatic hand surgery. He is the Deputy Director of Plastic Surgery at The Alfred, as well as Director of the Victorian Plastic Surgery Unit in East Melbourne. He is also the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons appointed Supervisor of Training for accredited registrars undergoing advanced training in plastic surgery at The Alfred Hospital. He is the author of numerous peer reviewed scientific papers and book chapters, and editor and reviewer for multiple surgical journals.

Their promotions are well deserved recognition of their hard work and I am very pleased and proud to have the opportunity to work with them in both our Surgical Services program and academic Department.
