Congratulations to Dr Jason Ray and Ms Estelle Hamson on their recognition from Alfred Health.

They were awarded Alfred Health's Recognising Excellence Awards 2022 for respectively, Positive & Productive Culture; and Education & Training (individual).

Dr Jason Ray -  Neurology VMO

In his time at Alfred Health, whilst he has excelled clinically and academically, Jason has made exceptional efforts to improve the culture and working environment of the teams he has worked with. His positive attitude and strong work ethic to optimize clinical care and improve systems has earned him significant respect. 

He makes ongoing efforts to proactively and continuously build team camaraderie, optimize communications with both formal and informal meetings, make each team member feel appreciated and heard, and act as a mentor to junior staff members. Within the constraints of the pandemic and social distancing rules, he has continuously adapted in order to be able to foster a strong team environment, and strongly emulates the Alfred vision for a Positive and Productive Culture.

Estelle Hamson – Stroke Nurse Consultant

Awarded Recognising Excellence Awards 2022 for Education & Training (individual). Estelle was pivotal in running a 12-week staff stroke education course on ward 2F. Stroke aetiology, treatment and  nursing care  as per clinical guidelines i.e. calf compression, dysphasia management were covered.
Successful completion of NET SMART Advanced Practitioner fellowship - Neurovascular Education and Training in Stroke Management and Acute Reperfusion Therapies.

Excerpt from the Awards booklet: Over the past 5-years Estelle has developed into a leading Stroke Nurse – not just Alfred Health but nationally. She is the Alfred’s first NET SMART AP Fellow and demonstrates an outstanding attitude towards furthering her own education and training with a commitment to helping develop those she works with. Throughout this personal journey, she has developed herself professionally whilst being an inspirational support to many graduate nurses, allied health colleagues and junior medical staff working with stroke patients. Estelle personifies ‘excellence’ in stroke care at Alfred Health.
