The Department of Neuroscience’s Associate Professor Gemma Sharp recently appeared on ABC News Breakfast to discuss a new international study on disordered eating in children and adolescents.
She spoke about the high prevalence of disordered eating in this age group, which affects one in five children and teenagers. She said that eating disorder prevention was "everyone's business" – from parents/carers and educators to health professionals and the media.
A/Prof Sharp is a member of both the Victorian State and National Eating Disorder Strategy Working Groups. She is also the Senior Clinical Psychologist and Research Lead at the new Statewide Women’s Mental Health Service (Alfred Health/Ramsay Health Care partnership).
