Congratulations to Jae Young Lee on his PhD completion!

Congratulations to Jae Young Lee (pictured), who has fulfilled the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy.  Jae's thesis is titled: "Targeting the molecular mechanisms of axonal degeneration, demyelination and remyelination in mulitple sclerosis" and was ratified by the Graduate Research Steering Committee on Tuesday 12 April 2016. His supervisors were Dr Steven Petratos (CCS) and Professor Richard Boyd (ARMI).

Congratulations to Sara Mokhtar, who has fulfilled the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy. Her thesis is titled: "The amyloid-beta-dependent phosphorylation of CRMP-2 and its contribution in Alzheimer's disease". Sara was supervised by Dr Steven Petratos (Medicine CCS) and Professor Richard Boyd (ARMI).

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia in the elderly. AD causes loss of memory, cognition, language and emotional stability and has currently no known cure. The aim of Sara's project was to find a novel target to stop the progression of the disease in order protect our aged population. It is well known that AD is caused by the accumulation of a normal protein in the brain called beta amyloid (Aβ).

Position vacant: Post Doctoral Fellows - Human T lymphocyte / CAR-T cells

Cartherics P/L is seeking Post-Doctoral Fellows to help implement its very active research program in Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR)-T based immunotherapies. The successful applicants will have a strong background in human T cell biology with experience in isolation, cell culture and phenotypic and functional characterisation. They will have a desire to succeed in a competitive environment and relish the challenge of helping to implement new technologies and equipment as necessary; the rewards will be substantial.  They will report directly to the Chief Scientific Officer of Cartherics but also liaise regularly with the other research scientists and relevant Laboratory personnel.
