24 Nov 2015: Find out about the Monash University low FODMAP diet for IBS sufferers

Dietary advice for the IBS sufferer: introduction to the Monash University low FODMAP diet, Tuesday 24 November 2015.

Symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) are common but unfortunately people often suffer in silence. Common symptoms include bloating, stomach pain, excessive gas, diarrhoea and constipation. Certain things in our diet may trigger these symptoms but working out what exactly is responsible can be difficult and can often lead to avoiding foods unnecessarily.

FODMAPs are naturally-occurring carbohydrates in a large variety of foods and collectively, trigger IBS symptoms. Over the past decade, research into diet and IBS has shown that a low FODMAP diet successfully improved IBS symptoms in ~70% of individuals.

Come along to an interactive session with 3 expert IBS dietitians (Accredited Practising Dietitians CK Yao, Marina Iacovou and Caroline Tuck) who are at the heart of IBS research at Monash University. You can find out more about what a low FODMAP diet is, whether it is for you, the latest research around the diet and practical strategies to get started.

Light refreshments including Low FODMAP options will be provided.

Date: Tuesday 24 November 2015
Time: 6.30pm arrival, 7-9pm
Venue: Lecture Theatre, Level 5, The Alfred Centre, 99 Commercial Road Melbourne 3004
