Professor Peleg was honoured with the ASM's top research award at the ASM Annual Scientific meeting in Brisbane this month. One of the leading awards in microbiology in Australia, it recognises distinguished contributions in any area of Australian research in microbiology.

Department of Diabetes candidate Pacific Huynh received his PhD award on 18 July 2018 for his thesis, "The role of CDA1 in an Experimental Model of Diabetes-Associated Renal Fibrosis". Pacific was supervised by Dr Zhong-Lin Chai.
Julidth Moore, Department of Gastroenterology candidate, likewise was awarded her PhD on 18 July for her thesis, "Novel interventional strategies for chronic constipation". Judith's supervisors were
Dr Rebecca Burgell and Prof Peter Gibson.

During Diversity and Inclusion week (Aug 27 - 31), the GEDI committee will be hosting a multicultural lunch in the AMREP foyer on Monday 27 August from 1.30 - 2.30pm. This will be a great opportunity to engage with CCS staff and students, meet the GEDI committee and learn more about CCS and Monash initiatives that celebrate and recognise diversity and inclusion. There will be more information in the CCS blog - look out for the Eye on GEDI section.
