Congratulations to Dr Mujun Sun on her promotion

Congratulations to Dr Mujun Sun on her promotion! Dr Sun is an early career researcher in the Department of Neuroscience and has been promoted to Research Fellow (Level B) effective 9 June 2021.

Dr Sun was the recipient of the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences Bridging Postdoctoral Fellowship, as well as a 2019 Brain Foundation Research Gift. She is a Principal Investigator in the Monash Trauma Group. Upon the recent promotion, she will continue to work with the other Investigators in the Trauma Group to address the very important and costly issue of brain trauma.

Congratulations to Emma Foster on her PhD completion!

Dr Emma Foster is a neurologist at Alfred Health

Congratulations to Dr Emma Foster on the completion of her PhD thesis, titled "Optimisation of first seizure management". Emma was supervised by Professors Patrick Kwan, Terry O'Brien (both in (CCS Department of Neuroscience), Professor Danny Liew and Associate Professor Zanfina Ademi (both in the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine); and Dr Patrick Carney (Eastern Health Clinical School). The degree was conferred 3 June.

Emma is the first PhD completion since the Department of Neuroscience was launched in 2018, so congratulations to both Emma and the department on her successful completion!

Welcome to Dr Omer Gilan

Welcome to Dr Omer Gilan, who is newly established in the Australian Centre for Blood Diseases researching blood epigenetics. 

Dr Gilan's research interests are the epigenetic landscapes of leukaemia cells and the role they play in the response and resistance to therapy, adaptation and the maintenance of the leukaemic and stem-like state. Ultimately the goal is to develop strategies to reset the cells back to the normal state for therapeutic benefit.

Reconciliation takes action, urges the reconciliation movement towards braver and more impactful action.With recent events including Black Lives Matter and Invasion Day rallies, we're seeing that people understand the truth and are speaking up about the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.The theme this year aims to encourage people across our nation, to turn their awareness and understanding into action!
