AMREP EMCR Conference 2016, Tuesday 4 October 2016, AMREP Lecture Theatre.

The AMREP EMCR Conference aims to bring together early career researchers from across the AMREP precinct. The conference will provide a forum for EMCRs to present their work to fellow colleagues, encourage cross-institute collaborations, and enhance networking across the entire AMREP site.

CCS clinical trial/research study register

Central Clinical School departments run many research studies and clinical trials seeking to recruit human participants. We've made it easy to advertise the studies through our blog and website via a register:

If you want to advertise a trial, you can login to our register with your authcate details. The following steps are undertaken:

• Entry created by study coordinator. Fields ensure all content required is obtained.
• Database editors receive automatic notification from database
• Entry checked with study coordinator
• Editor publishes to public web page
• Content used to add to blog and other notifications
• Content unpublished when recruitment finished or recruitment end date passed. Goes to archive and can be restored if trial reopens.

Participants sought: Investigating the health benefits of dietary fibre

Healthy volunteers are required for a study investigating the optimal increase in dietary fibre to improve bowel movement and gut bacteria. This study involves volunteers consuming nutritionally balanced diets that vary only in their dietary fibre content, over an entire period of 8 weeks. All cooked food will be supplied. Participants will be asked to purchase the fresh food component of the diet. All the diets have been designed and prepared by a fully qualified and experienced professional chef.

Participants sought: Does memory and brain plasticity improve with non-invasive brain stimulation?

The Monash Alfred Psychiatry Research Centre (MAPrc) is currently seeking healthy right-handed adult participants aged between 18-60 years to take part in a study investigating the effects of non-invasive brain stimulation on improving memory and brain plasticity. The study involves the use of a new form of non-invasive brain stimulation known as ‘High Definition Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (HD-tDCS) which is a painless, safe, and non-invasive means of stimulating nerve cells in the brain. Brain activity will be recoded using TMS and EEG and memory will be studied via neuropsychological tests.
